What is the
Swiss-South African Co-operation Initiative?

The Swiss-South African Co-operation Initiative (SSACI) is a South African development agency funded by Swiss and South African companies in collaboration with the Swiss Agency for Development and Co-operation (SDC). It is a unique public-private partnership between a government agency (SDC) and private-sector corporations, aimed at promoting the social and economic development of South African youth.

SSACI is registered as a trust in South Africa and has trustees representing its corporate sponsors, the Swiss government and the wider South African community.

Our motto “Masibambisane” (Zulu for “Let’s co-operate”) expresses the spirit of partnership in development that characterises SSACI’s funding programme.
